Flight and day 1
Good flight. Quite smooth. Impressed with Air Canada. Usual movie marathon. Not much sleep. Met with APT rep and other group members at airport. Drive to hotel, Fairmont Waterfront. Can’t check in as only 8 am. Leaves bags and start wandering around discovering Vancouver. Today is cruise ship day so 3 ships in and lots of tourists about. Wander around waterfront. Ships including one that we will do Alaska cruise on. Bigger than we thought. Huge new convention centre with lots of cafes and shops under. Lots of sea plane activity. Wander around streets of city centre. Much like any modern city. Big shopping centre covering 3 blocks. Stumble across Jimi Hendrix, Bob Marley “shrine” in front of odds & sods shop. Lunch at food court then back to hotel to wait for room. Get room at 2 which is 2 hours early. Very tired and sleep for couple of hours. Tonight intro and meet the group dinner. Tomorrow tour of Vancouver.
