Quebec Friday

Very lazy start today. Laze around at home in the morning and head out around 1 pm. Decide to explore some of the streets we haven’t done. 3 major streets starting near us, Cartier, Rene Levesque, Grande-Allee. Cartier has a shopping strip, mainly restaurants, cafes, fruit shops, supermarket, wine. The street has many big lamps. Circular lamps around 6 feet in diameter each with its own design. Grande-Alle has many grand buildings now housing hotels and businesses. Great architecture making for interesting street scapes. I can’t stop taking photos. Further down is a restaurant strip which is known as a party area. Near here is the Quebec provincial parliament. We do a guided tour of the beautiful building which is very interesting both in regard to the history of the building and the political structures. Back home via Cartier for a coffee and some supplies. One of the most remarkable features of today is the weather. After a week of high 30’s temperatures, today it is less than 20!
Tonight head back to Cartier for dinner. Trousers and jumper tonight. Judy multiple jackets. Wander around checking out restaurants and settle on little pasta/pizza place. Good and simple. After dinner, decide to wander over to the Plains of Abraham concert site to see what we can see. Huge concert setting with thousands of people all with flickering red lights. We stand on the hill outside with the rest of the cheapskates. Quite a few out here, some with their rugs and picnics. We are on the wrong side so can only see the back of the stage, but stay for a while listening to Neil Young and his band. Back home again passing by the noisy party end of Grande-Allee and onto Cartier to see the street lamps at night.
Forgot to say that today I tried poutine. The québécois speciality! Hot chips smothered in gravy and cheese curd. Interesting but possibly a once in a lifetime experience. When in Rome.
